About Dan
A Life of Service to Garrett County
Dan Duggan has called Garrett County home for 40 years. He and his wife Susan live on a small farm in Swanton, where they raised four children and are now blessed with three grandchildren.
Dan served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps — in both active and reserve components — retiring in 2003 as a Gunnery Sergeant. He then devoted 25 years to protecting Garrett County as a deputy sheriff, retiring as a Lieutenant in 2025.
He was twice elected Judge of the Orphans’ Court for Garrett County, with Governor Hogan appointing him Chief Judge during both terms. Today, Dan owns and operates Mountaintop Appraisal Service, Inc. and is a practicing Realtor. He is a graduate of Garrett College.

With 20 years in the Marines and 25 years in law enforcement, Dan has a first-hand understanding of how legislation affects citizens and communities. He will bring that experience to the House of Delegates.
